Mission Icon

Our Mission

The Ontario Chinese Cultural Network is a grassroots project dedicated to celebrating and empowering Chinese cultural artists, groups and organizations in Ontario by documenting and sharing their cultural activities, events, and opportunities.

We aim to document the vibrant cultural ecosystem and history of Chinese arts and heritage, amplifying visibility of opportunities knowledge-sharing events to ensure Chinese cultural activities continue to grow and inspire future generations of participants.

This project seeks to support individuals, groups, and initiatives originating from Ontario or those whose operations are primarily based in Ontario. This can include, but is not limited to, artists and organizations (including local and provincial branches), arts curators and supporters, educators and influencers, and community members.

Vision Icon

Our Vision

We envision an inclusive and connected cultural landscape across Ontario where Chinese cultural expression is recognized, celebrated, and sustained. Here are the three core guiding elements of our vision:

1

Provide an English resource for diasporic Chinese/non-Chinese speakers to see and engage with Chinese culture

2

Celebrate legacy of the Chinese cultural artists and organizations in the Ontario community for future generations

3

Support Chinese cultural activities in Ontario and connect the diverse and often siloed landscape

OCCN Logo

This vision is symbolized through our logo involving the Chinese knot with the Chinese character “文” in the centre. The Chinese knot is a key element in Chinese handicrafts representing the vision to establish an interwoven “network” across Ontario. The Chinese character “文”, meaning “literature” and “culture”, anchors itself as the heart of this network.
